Gratitude Journal

Last year, one small thing ended up making a big difference in my life: a gratitude journal. When I received it from my church at the beginning of the year, I felt genuinely excited. The cover looked so pretty, and I had always wanted to keep a gratitude journal.

Frankly speaking, I’m not very good at sticking with things, so I worried, “Will I really be able to keep this up?” Still, I set a simple goal for myself: to start right away instead of putting it off. With that mindset, I began my own little challenge.

Every night before going to bed, I sat at my desk and opened my gratitude journal. I took time to reflect on my day—what I was thankful for and who I wanted to thank–and carefully wrote everything down. At first, it felt awkward, but as the days passed, I found myself thanking God even for the smallest things. As I learned to notice gratitude in moments I might have easily overlooked, my heart began to overflow with thankfulness. I started writing on February 1, and six months later, on July 31, I had filled an entire journal. Now, I’m continuing this journey with a new gratitude journal.

Keeping a gratitude journal has made my life happier. I realized that the days I once thought were ordinary were actually filled with countless reasons to be thankful for. I’m deeply grateful to God, who helped me discover gratitude in my life and brought even more joy into my days.
