My sister and I are like oil and water—we’re different in almost every way.
That’s probably why it feels even more special when we actually find something we agree on.
Please introduce yourself.
I’m Park Hye-min, an ordinary 21-year-old office worker.
How do you feel when you’re with your younger brother?
Honestly, I’m relieved he’s not my son. He’s grown way too big—both physically and mentally—for me to handle. And even though he’s not my kid, he still completely wears me out.
That’s why I genuinely respect our mom. My dream is to become a mom like her someday. Oh, but just to be clear, I don’t want a son like my brother.
Haha, I see.
When do you feel especially close to your brother?
When we talk. He opens up to me about worries he can’t really share with our parents. I’m not very good at emotional comfort, to be honest, but as his sister, I try to give him realistic advice.
I agree. I still remember when you said, “I trust you the way you trust me.” It felt a little awkward, but I could tell you were genuinely trying to understand me. That meant a lot to me, and it’s something that stuck with me.
When do you feel like you need your brother the most?
When I want to laugh. He’s really good at making me laugh.
Do you have a story related to that?
Sometimes he suddenly starts dancing right in front of me. The funniest part is how seriously he gets into it. He’ll grab random props and turn it into a full-on performance. Honestly, I want to record it so other people can enjoy it too.
We also love taking photos together. When we look back at the ridiculous ones, we end up laughing forever.
How has your brother changed from when he was younger to now?
He used to be really cute and sweet. He still is, but he’s all grown up, so calling him “cute” feels a little weird.
You, on the other hand, used to be a bit distant, but now you’re really sweet. You even give me allowance money! Haha!
What’s your goal these days?
I want our family to become even closer and happier.
I’ll also do my best for our family’s happiness. Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to your brother?
Don’t be afraid of failure or regret. Just try things first.
You have so many talents and such a playful personality that you can be a handful sometimes, but honestly, you’re fun more than not. Let’s both do our best so Mom doesn’t have to worry. I truly believe you can handle school and your faith with ease. Don’t be afraid of failure or regret. Just give everything a try.
Through this interview, I really came to understand my sister’s heart. I used to be stubborn just for the sake of it and do the opposite of what she said, but now I want to try harder to listen—to both my parents and my sister.
Hye-min, thank you for being my sister. Let’s keep our family happy, always.
