Letters to Benin

At our church, we heard that several members would be going on a mission trip to Benin, Africa. Someone suggested writing letters to encourage the brothers and sisters there, so our Student Group decided to joined in too. At first, we weren’t sure where to start. We didn’t speak French, Benin’s official language, and we had never met the members there before. As everyone hesitated, our teacher gently said,

“You can draw something if you’d like. And if writing feels difficult, you can always use a translator.”

Upon hearing those words, and we began writing our letters, doing our best to pour our hearts into every word. I ended up drawing more than I wrote, while one sister used a translation app to create a long, heartfelt message.

The letters were neatly laminated and sent along with the members traveling to Benin. Later, we heard how happy the brothers and sisters there were when they received them. Knowing that our love reached all the way across the world filled us with gratitude and pride. I pray that all the Zion members in Benin continue to grow as strong, faithful workers of God.
