Like a Curling Match

I once visited a curling center on a school field trip. It was the very venue where the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics were held, a place where we could learn about and experience curling firsthand. Curling is a sport where you slide a circular stone across the ice toward a target area to score points. The key is using a broom (which looks a bit like a mop!) to sweep the ice and control both the stone’s direction and speed.

I played a match with my friends, but it was not as easy as it looked. Teamwork was essential between the person sliding the stone from the starting point and the teammates sweeping the ice to guide its path and adjust its speed. At first, our stone would overshoot the target and slid far past it. But as we learned to work together in harmony, it gradually landed closer and closer to the center.

Unity is just as crucial in our life of faith as we move toward our goal of heaven. It made me realize how important it is for all Zion members to unite their hearts—whether they are leading others at the front, supporting from behind, or serving in different roles along the way. I sincerely hope that, through beautiful unity with my spiritual family, we can continue taking one step closer to heaven each day.
