“Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.”1 Co 8:13Paul says that if food could make a brother or sister to stumble, he would give up eating meat for the rest of his life. His words reveal an extraordinary kind of love—one that is willing to completely change personal habits for the sake of others.
Reading this made me ask myself, “Do I truly love my brothers and sisters like that?”
Looking back, I wish I had taken more time to consider others’ feelings, to be more understanding, or to adjust my own behavior when needed. Instead, I often focused on proving who was right, only to end up hurting those around me. Through this passage, I resolved to cultivate a love that is willing to sacrifice—a love that puts others first, just as God always does, loving us enough to give His life for us.
